Ans- The Thar Desert is very dry and receives very little rainfall.

People face scarcity of water and depend mainly on wells, tube wells, and rainwater harvesting.

Their main occupations are animal rearing (camels, goats, sheep), farming near irrigation areas, and trading.

Houses are made of mud and straw, which keep them cool in summer.



Q2. Discuss the formation of the Southern Plateau.

Ans - The Southern Plateau is a very old landform of India. It was made millions of years ago when big pieces of land broke and moved away.
This area is made of very strong rocks. It has two main parts — the Central Highlands and the Deccan Plateau.

Many big rivers like the Godavari, Krishna, and Kaveri flow through this region.
The Southern Plateau also has many important minerals like coal, iron ore, manganese, and bauxite.
