1. Define terrace farming:
Ans - Terrace farming means cutting steps on hills to grow crops. It helps to stop soil from washing away.


2. Name three river basins of the north:
Ans -The three river basins of the north are Ganga Basin, Indus Basin, and Brahmaputra Basin.


3. Darjeeling is located in the northern mountains. Is Tripura located in the north?
Ans - No, Tripura is in the north-east part of India, not in the north.

1. Discuss the extent and the division of the Himalayas:
Ans- The Himalayas are a long mountain range in the northern part of India.
They stretch from Jammu and Kashmir in the west to Arunachal Pradesh in the east.
The Himalayas are divided into three parts:
Himadri (Great Himalayas) 
Himachal (Middle Himalayas)
Shiwalik (Lower Himalayas) 

2. Explain the location and division of the coastal plains of India:
Ans- The coastal plains lie along the eastern and western edges of India near the sea.
They are divided into two parts:
Western Coastal Plain 
Eastern Coastal Plain
