5 Desalinating - Removing salt from sea water to make it good for drinking.
6 Nomadic -People who move from one place to another instead of staying in one place.
7 Bedouins- Nomadic people who live in the Arabian Desert and travel with their animals.
8 Skyscrapers - Very tall buildings found in big cities.
I.Answer the following questions.

2. What are the nomadic inhabitants of the Arabian Desert called?
- The nomadic people of the Arabian Desert are called Bedouins.
3. During the summer season, the Bedouins do not face the problem of water scarcity. Why do you think so?
- The Bedouins move from one place to another in search of water and food.
- They know where the oasis (places with water) are found.
- They also store water and use it carefully.
II. Answer the following questions
1. How is the cactus able to grow in deserts?
Ans - The cactus plant is well adapted to live in deserts where there is very little rainfall.
The cactus does not have normal leaves. Instead, it has spines which stop water from escaping and also protect the plant from animals.
Its roots grow deep into the soil to collect water from underground.
2. Who are the Bedouin? How do they earn their livelihood?
Ans - The Bedouins are nomadic people who live in the Arabian Desert.
“Nomadic” means they do not live in one place. They move from place to place in search of water, food, and grass for their animals.
The Bedouins earn their livelihood by selling milk, wool, leather, and animals in nearby markets.
