Desert

A very dry place with lots of sand.

Plains

Big, flat areas of land, good for farming.

Hill

A small, raised area of land, not as high as a mountain.

Mountains

Very high land with steep sides, much taller than hills.

Fertile

Soil or land that is good for growing plants and crops.

Plateau

A high flat area of land that looks like a table.

Ans- Ganga and Yamuna

2.      What is a plain?

Ans - A plain is a large area of flat land.

3.      Saira saw a picture of land. It was surrounded by water on all sides. It had big coconut trees. What type of landform did she see?
Ans- She saw an island.

1.      What is the difference between the islands and desert of India?
Ans-Islands are pieces of land surrounded by water on all sides. Deserts are dry, sandy areas with very little water and few plants.

2.      Contrast the features of the Great Plains of India and the Coastal Plains.
Ans- The Great Plains are wide, flat lands with fertile soil and many rivers. The Coastal Plains are narrow, flat lands near the sea and have coconut and palm trees.
